I work hard when I am being paid to solve peoples problems. But, when I'm off I enjoy having fun at least with as much effort as I put into work. I am a mechanical engineer. Not one of the smartest but I know how to work hard. Middle of the road type of smart guy. Not a straight A student come B's and C's. But that's enough about school and work. I enjoy the outdoors and activities such as hiking running and snowboarding. No matter what time of year there is always some activity that you can have fun doing. I enjoy spending time with family and friends as well. Being alone is fun but when you can spend time with others it makes the time more enjoyable. I have many friends that I have made throughout the years and many of them are still close. Also I am always meeting new people. I enjoy talking to all sorts of people and hearing many different opinions. I have a really open mind to everyone's points of view.

I believe that I'm cynical and jaded, although others may not see it in me. I can also view the world with wonderment and naivete, an innocent curiosity.

I like good restaurants and performing arts, but living in New Mexico puts some limits on those. I like the symphony and ballet, but not opera. I like musicals more than plays. I like most European cuisine, but not seafood; Chinese, but not Japanese; northern Thai but not southern.

The more I learn about US military history and foreign policy, the more of a pacifist I become. So why do I still do the Army thing, you ask? Because I do it well. I've been in the Army for almost 17 years. That's longer than anything else I've done in my adult life (aside from being a bachelor). Longer even than the 11 years I've spent in higher education. Like in that prison flick with Tom Hanks, you could say I've been institutionalized. And also, if not I then who? Who will fight the good fight? Who will be the guy in the white hat? Who will be the liberator of oppressed people? Like Krshna tells Arjun in the Bagavhad Gita, I have come to believe that this is my karma, and I am willing to accept it.

Along with that karma is also those years of higher education I mentioned. I started college right after high-school because everyone else seemed to be doing it, so it must be the right thing. That lasted two years. After four years of active duty, I decided that it was time in my life for me to have a college degree. Plus I needed the GI Bill money to cover rent. An associate's in welding was the beginning of a nine year run ending with two associate's, a bachelor's, and a master's. When I was actually in school because I wanted to be (and had a financial stake in it too) I was a much better student. Other students would ask me when I was going to graduate and get a "real job". Well, I believe "real jobs" are a myth. How much more real could working for the Army and fighting "the war on terror" be? Plus, I've had jobs and I've been in school, and I like school better. The only benefit of a job is that it pays a bit better than college. Send me a note if you really care to know all my majors along the way.

People who don't put their carts in the cart corral or use their turn signals strike me as inconsiderate, selfish and lazy.

So a couple months ago I decided I was going to erase everything on here and just visit for the tests and what not. Well, as it turns out, I didn't visit at all. But I'm back! Not that anyone really even knew I was gone, but you get the point.

I was the kid who always had something to prove and would stop at nothing short of killing myself to prove it. What was I trying to prove you ask? I'm still working on that one. I've come a long way in 30 years though and I'm looking forward to the next 30. I'm really starting to feel comfortable in my own skin. I've really tried to understand who I am and what makes me tick. I'm going to school for Psychology to see if I can facilitate a faster and easier pace in this journey of self discovery we call life. I find that I try regularly to see my flaws for what they are and take little steps to correct them. What makes this so hard is that some of my biggest flaws have also been my greatest commodities. Finding balance is key, and also one of the hardest things I've ever done. But I think I should have it whipped in another 30!

Overall Iâ??m a pretty damn good dude. Iâ??m loyal to my friends and would lay my life down for my family. I enjoy being a gentleman. I find that it's slowly becoming a lost art. I work hard and I play harder, I think thatâ??s how itâ??s supposed to be. Iâ??ve only got this one chance so Iâ??m trying to get everything accomplished in this lifetime that I can. Iâ??ve seen, roughly, nine percent of the world so far and all that has done is make me want to see more. Nine percent doesn't really sound like a lot, but do the math. Iâ??m pretty active and Iâ??ll try anything once. I love to skydive, wakeboard, snowboard, and any other sport that requires at least some sort of physical prowess. I go the gym 3-4 days a week to stay healthy, fit and feeling good and because at my core, I am but a man, and if big rock in way, big rock get moved! I also do yoga and stretch often. There's no point in being muscular if you're bound by your muscles.

I really do love animals though, seeing as I work with them on a daily basis. I've worked for a dog-breeder for the past 6 months and it's been quite an... well, experience, to say the least. Not interested in taking the kennel over, but hey, the stuff you learn about dogs is cool. I worked for a veterinary clinic for 6 months prior before I worked for my current dog-breeder boss, and that was also really fun. I got to watch a lot of surgeries and also learned that, well, I'm actually not that bad at giving shots to animals. Don't let me near humans though, ha ha.

Generally, I just like to sit and chill out. We can have a party or we can just sit around, I don't care, as long as the people I'm around are smiling and having fun. People should make jokes. If you're not smiling, I'll make you smile... No, that's not a threat. :)

I have finally decided what I want to be when I grow up...a Pharmacist. So last year I went back to school. I am going to UNM in the fall for pre-pharmacy. I'm very excited.

I love the outdoors. I just had ankle surgery so I am limited to what I can do right now but I am looking forward to the fall. The surgery was relatively serious so I am just now allowed to wear a shoe.

Let's see. This is much harder to do than I thought. I've living and working and going to school here in the Burque. It's interesting, but I'm always looking for something to do. Music is my life, and I also like to write and I can be partial to almost any movie...almost.

So... I was told to write a little description of myself, here we go. My name is Tyler. I've lived in Albuquerque my whole life, minus one year for when I lived in Utah, very long story. Albuquerque is not a bad place to live for 21 years but I'm planning to move to California sometime here in the next few years. My favorite thing in the universe would have to be film.
