St. Clair Winery and Bistro: Award-winning wines and a taste for everyone
May 13, 2010
With over 60 different New Mexico grown wines - including award-winning wines - there is a wine for every palate at the St. Clair Winery and Bistro in Albuquerque.
The St. Clair Winery is the largest producing winery in the state and has won such prestigious awards as the 2009 San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition's Sweepstakes award and the 2010 Double Gold award.
Now, with the addition of three bistros, customers can enjoy wholesome food expertly paired with the wine for a dining experience that is "just a good mix of flavors," said Kevin Jakel, manager of the Albuquerque location. The other bistro locations are in Farmington and Las Cruces.
The restaurant is an avenue for people to try the wines, Jakel said. Wine samples are available for $6 for six samples all day, every day. Premium wines are $16 for six samples.
The signature dish on the dining menu, Jakel said, is the Pasta Danielle, chicken sautéed in olive oil with garlic and a lightly spiced Creole sauce. It is $7.95 for lunch and $12.95 for dinner with chicken. With shrimp the dinner price changes to $14.95 and with a combination of shrimp and crab it is $17.95.
In the evenings the bar area is packed with an eclectic mix of people from all areas of Albuquerque to enjoy the fine wine and live jazz or blues music Wednesday through Sunday starting about 6 p.m. During the weekends, bands will occasionally perform in the earlier afternoon as well.
