It’s hard to believe there was action in Albuquerque during the Civil War, but there was. But, it’s not as hard to believe that in the early 20th century, people came out here from out east to ease their discomfort from tuberculosis and other respiratory diseases. Just as in Phoenix, the dry climate suggested a cure-all effect was available. But, now, there are things to do other than “getting away to take a cure.” There’s a theater group that travels internationally, the Tricklock Company, as well as the American Shakespeare Project. And, Albuquerque has its share of museums, a state fair, even an aerial tramway that goes from the city to the Sandia Mountains. It sounds like fun actually. Finally, Bubonicon, an odd name outside of the region, is a science-fiction convention. There’s regional-league baseball, football, and basketball. Surprisingly to some, there’s also indoor ice hockey. (Well, where else would it be?)
